TV Screen

TV Screen

Show your song requests on a big screen at your venue. The TV screen puts your live request list on any TV, projector, laptop, or tablet with a web browser, so everyone in the room can see what is coming up and watch their votes move songs up the list.

What the TV Screen Shows

Once a screen is connected to your event, it shows your request list live:

  • Your requests, ranked by votes: by default, Pending and Accepted are shown side by side. Every request shows its rank, album art, song title, artist, and the name of the guest who requested it.
  • Live updates with animations: new requests drop in, vote counts go up, and songs move to another list as you accept or play them. New requests are marked NEW for the first few minutes.
  • VIPs and tips: requests from VIP guests are marked with a star, and requests that came with a tip show the amount.
  • A QR code: guests in the room scan it to join your event and request or vote, without having to ask you for the link.

When your event has no requests yet, the screen shows a large QR code that invites guests to request the first song. When your event ends, it switches to a thank you screen with the most voted songs of the night.

Requester names are shown on the screen, so everyone in the room can see them.

Setting Up a TV Screen

First, from your Host device:

  1. Open your Event
  2. Tap the ellipsis (three dots) menu in the top right corner
  3. Select TV screen
  4. Turn on Show requests on a TV

The app now shows a web address and an 8 character Pairing code.

Second, on the TV (or any other device you want to use as a screen):

  1. Open a web browser and go to rekwest.app/screen
  2. Enter the pairing code. Type it on a keyboard, paste it, or pick the characters on screen with the arrow buttons and OK on your TV remote.

The screen connects as soon as the last character is entered. There is nothing to install, and the screen remembers its connection when the page is reloaded.

You can connect a screen before your event starts. It already shows your event, so you can test the setup in advance.

Multiple Screens

The same pairing code connects as many screens as you like, for example one by the dance floor and one at the bar.

Getting a New Code

Tap New code in the app to replace the pairing code. The old code no longer connects new screens, but screens that are already connected keep showing your event.

Disconnecting Screens

  • To disconnect every screen at once, turn off Show requests on a TV in the app.
  • To disconnect one screen, open its settings and select Disconnect this screen.

Screen Settings

Every screen has its own settings, so the screen at the bar can look different from the one by the DJ booth. To open them:

  • Press OK on the remote, or S on a keyboard
  • Or press and hold the top right corner of the screen

In the Screen settings you can change:

  • Number of columns: show one, two, or three request lists side by side
  • Which list each column shows: Pending, Accepted, Played, or Declined
  • Requests per column: from 4 up to 16
  • Language: follow the language of the browser automatically, or pick one of seven languages
  • Display: show or hide the QR code, the event header, the event image (in the header or as the background), the rank, the votes, and the tips
  • Animations: Full, Subtle, or Off
  • Dim: darken the screen by up to 40%

The settings close by themselves after a minute, so an open settings panel never stays on screen during your event.

Dedications Mode

Turn on Dedications mode in the screen settings to show the messages guests add to their song requests as a wall of dedications. A great fit for weddings and birthdays.

Dedications mode is only available when the messages of your event are public. Turn on Messages are public in your event settings to use it.

Landscape and Portrait

The TV screen works in both orientations. Mount a screen upright and the layout switches to portrait by itself.

Tips for the Big Night

  • Check the sleep settings of your TV. Rekwest asks the browser to keep the screen awake, but some TVs still switch to a screen saver or go to sleep after a while.
  • Use full screen. Most browsers have a full screen mode, which hides the address bar and gives your request list the whole screen.
  • No need to babysit it. If the internet connection drops, the screen reconnects by itself.

Perfect For

  • Clubs and bars that want the crowd to see what is coming up next
  • Wedding and party DJs who want guests to join in by scanning the code on the big screen
  • Venues that already have screens or projectors on the wall
  • Anyone who wants more guests to request and vote
